June 2026 Astrology Overview.m4a

June 2026 is bookended by the planet Mercury, which coordinates communication, thinking, transportation, education, and commerce. At the beginning of the month, Mercury enters the sign of Cancer, and by the end of the month it will retrograde in Cancer. When in a dignified condition, Mercury represents the intellect and sound strategy. When in a debilitated condition, it can turn into harmful provocations or derisive speech.

Mercury is a neutral planet, in terms of temperament, which means that it tends to take on the characteristics of whomever is within its orbit. Like all planets, when Mercury enters a new sign, it will express itself through that sign. And when in close proximity to a planet, it tends to be mind-meld.

This month also features a long-awaited conjunction between Venus and Jupiter, Mercury will station retrograde, and Jupiter will move into Cancer. Other major aspects this month include:

June 1: Mercury enters Cancer
June 2: Sun sextile Saturn 12°
June 3: Mercury square Neptune 4°
June 9: Venus conjoin Jupiter 25°
June 10: Mercury square Saturn 12°
June 13: Venus square Chiron 29°; Venus enters Leo
June 14: New Moon in Gemini 24°
June 15: Venus sextile Uranus 2°
June 16: Venus trine Neptune 4°
June 17: Venus opposes Pluto Rx 5°
June 19: Chiron enters Taurus
June 21: Sun enters Cancer (Summer Solstice begins); Sun sextile Chiron 0°
June 25: Venus trine Saturn 13°; Sun square Neptune 4°
June 28: Mars sextile Jupiter 29°; Mars enters Gemini
June 29: Mercury retrograde in Cancer 26°; Full Moon in Capricorn 8°
June 30: Jupiter enters Leo

June 1st
The month opens with Mercury entering Cancer. Cancer is a feminine, nocturnal, Cardinal Water sign, ruled by the Moon. It represents the principle of safety, security, and a sense of home. This is often expressed through the emotions, due to the ruling planet of Cancer being the Moon, which oscillates and changes, moving quickly across the sky. With this transit, there are a few key things to keep in mind:

  • There is a shift in tone and speed of communications from mutable Air to cardinal Water

  • Mercury has a neutral temperament, and will take on the qualities of what it comes into contact with, in this case Cancer, which is cold and wet

  • Mercury will make hard aspects (squares) in June, including Neptune at 4° and Saturn 12° which are both in the sign of Aries. Squares can signal challenging, tense, or potentially uncomfortable situations

  • If you have planets or points in either Cancer or Aries, you might experience these transits more intensely, especially if closely aspected

June 2
The Sun will sextile Saturn at 12° Aries, which can indicate a serious and responsible tone. Because they are aspecting each other in sextile, this speaks to a friendly encounter.

June 3:
Mercury will square Neptune 4° and this is the first square that it will make with a planet before it retrogrades later in the month. Squares are of the nature of Mars, indicating tension and pressure. Although these planets are in signs that share the same modality, their elements are not very well aligned.

June 9
Venus and Jupiter will conjoin on June 9th at 25° Cancer. Jupiter has been transiting through the sign of the Crab for the past year, and with Venus’ ingress into Cancer, the two will meet to bestow a bit of benevolence. Venus and Jupiter are both benefic planets and share the same moderately hot and moist temperament, so when they come together their unification can bring generosity, optimism, and good fortune.

June 10
Mercury will square Saturn 12° and this is the last bit of resistance Mercury will encounter between another planet before it stations retrograde, a cycle that will take us into July.

June 13
Venus in Cancer will square Chiron in Aries. This happens right before Venus moves into Leo, and before Chiron enters the sign of Leo on June 19th. Here we have yet another square, which can bring some discomfort between the benefic Venus and the centaur Chiron. Venus represents the principle of attraction, beauty, and pleasure. Chiron, while not as widely applied in Hellenistic astrology, symbolizes the dynamic opposition between the spiritual and instinctual aspects of our experience.

Beyond the “wounded healer” trope, Chiron is really about reconciling and healing the parts of ourselves that are at odds. Chiron has been transiting the sign of Aries since April 2018, and this year, it will begin a new 7 year cycle in Aries. In the sign of the Ram, of the “I am” principle, Chiron speaks to challenges of establishing a sovereign identity.

This transit sets up an interesting dynamic for the rest of the astrology that unfolds in June. On the same day that Venus squares Chiron, she enters the sign of Leo. Here, Venus will heat things up with love and affection after what may have felt like a catharsis in square to Chiron.

June 14
On June 14th we have a New Moon in Gemini 24° signaling us to pull our intellectual resources inward for a period of renewal. This lunation cycle is ruled by Mercury in Cancer, which helps us to hone our intuition. You might feel inclined to explore memories from the past to glean insight. This might be a great opportunity to reach out to a friend you haven’t connected with in a while just to check in and let them know you’re thinking about them. With this lunation, it also feels like something from the past is asking to be revisited, or reconsidered. I think this lunation is the perfect time to get out your vinyl, and allow yourself to vibe.

If you have placements in Gemini or any of the mutable signs (Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces), at or around 24° you will feel the effects of this New Moon more intensely. You can also look back to last year’s New Moon in Gemini, which occurred on to see if there is any resonance or a recurrence in the themes from the year prior.

June 15
By Mid June, Venus will have successive aspects with planets in Fire and Air signs. Starting with June 15th,  Venus will sextile Uranus. This transit comes on the coattails of Venus entering Leo. Sextiles represent cordial exchange and with Uranus could emphasize an impulse to change or shake up our appearance, or question what we’ve always found attractive and appealing.

June 16
On June 16th, Venus will then trine Neptune. A trine is a harmonious aspect where the two planets are in signs of the same element. In this case, we are dealing with fire with Venus in Leo and Neptune in Aries. This transit feels like natural empathy and the transcendental relating. This might be a great time to stoke the fire on a creative project, where something of the heart and of spirit is able to channel through you.

June 17
Venus will oppose Pluto in Aquarius. Oppositions are of the nature of Saturn, meaning they can feel like an obstruction or confrontation. When it comes to matters that are Venusian, such as love and pleasure, opposing Pluto, which deals with power, transformation, and that which is hidden, there is a sense of trouble or direct conflict in love relationships or intimate partnerships that is polarizing. This might look like information or behavior being uncovered, that is challenging to sit with, but ultimately reveals some deeper truth.

June 19
June 19th is a very important day. Also known as Juneteenth, it marks the symbolic end of slavery in the United States. In 1865, two years after Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, federal troops arrived in Galveston, TX, to announce that all enslaved people would be freed. However, not long after slavery was abolished, state and local statutes found new ways to legalize segregation and a racial caste system known as the Black Codes and Jim Crow took hold. These policies would last for another 100 years, ending in the late 1970s, but their impact further tethered white supremacy to the foundation of the nation. In the untimed chart of Juneteenth, Chiron was in Pisces, representing the principle of deep compassion, and freedom from material limitations.

Chiron in Pisces asks, what is liberation?

On June 19th, Chiron will enter the sign of Taurus. Chiron has been moving through Aries since 2018 and will wrap up this transit in 2027 after one final retrograde. As mentioned, Chiron is symbolic of the wounds and traumas that we face, and the integration of our instinctual nature with our spiritual sensibilities. Chiron is about healing what has attempted to leave us behind, or bury us in fear. It is a return to our truest, deepest selves.

In Aries, Chiron is the Emperor who asks, what am I fighting for?

In Taurus, Chiron becomes the Hierophant: the one who holds and interprets sacred mysteries, who brings people into the presence of the divine. It is important to note that Chiron is a hybrid celestial body orbiting the margins between Saturn and Uranus. Its nature is liminal; it is both/and: a minor planet, asteroid, comet, a wanderer among wanderers.

Chiron in Taurus asks, what does it mean to be embodied?

This is the question I am going to be sitting with through the duration of this transit. Once Chiron has officially moved into Taurus in April 2027, this is something I think we will all be sitting with for this next 7 year cycle.

June 21
Following this major astrological milestone, the Sun will enter Cancer on June 21st, marking the Summer Solstice. On the same day, the Sun will also sextile Chiron, highlighting the themes that we will be working with while Chiron moves through Taurus. Now Mercury and Jupiter are already in here Cancer. Jupiter is in the final degrees here, inching closer to Leo. While Mercury is in its pre-retrograde shadow, and slowing down in preparation for a period of review and reflection.

June 25
On June 25th, Venus will trine Saturn and the Sun will square Neptune on the same day. The planet of love and value in a flowing aspect with Saturn, the planet of structure and endurance, speaks to the durability of our relationships. This can also help make a commitment if we’ve been on the fence about it, or the ability to see the beauty in things that stand the test of time.

With the Sun squaring Neptune brings challenges and tension. When these two planets are in aspect to each other, there can be a confusion between reality and fantasy, or attempted erosion of our identity and vitality. This is a good time to take good care of yourself so that you can see things as clearly and coherently as possible.

June 28
As we wrap up the end of the month, Mars will sextile Jupiter, then it will enter the sign of Gemini on the 28th of June. With both Mars and Jupiter in the final degree of Taurus and Cancer, respectively, they are symbolically shaking hands. Mars in the Fixed Earth of Taurus, and Jupiter in the Cardinal Waters of Cancer can represent a relative ease, which allows us to take action toward what we believe in. Passionate initiation will propel the movement of Mars into Gemini, where the planet of aggression and action will meet the dual nature of the Twins in mutable Gemini. This transit speaks to communication and intellectual endeavors that are fierce and fiery. Throughout Mars in Gemini, it would benefit us, and others, to be mindful of our words as they are more likely to bite. At the same time, we can utilize this transit to sharpen our understanding of a subject or to cut through any confusion that might be lingering.

June 29
The second Mercury retrograde cycle will take place from June 29th to July 23rd, this time in the sign of Cancer. This year, Mercury retrogrades are happening in water signs, the first happening in Pisces and the last in Scorpio in 2026. I believe that retrograde cycles carry the essence of Sankofa, which comes from the lands of Ghana meaning “to retrieve what has been forgotten, or lost.” Mercury retrograde in Cancer provides an opportunity to let our intuition lead without relying too heavily on intellect. Communication, thinking, and written documents might need a few rounds of review, but careful and contemplative consideration will go a long way.

The final lunation of the month is a Full Moon at 8° in the sign of Capricorn, happening on June 29th. Capricorn is a cardinal Earth sign, and represents steadfast and enduring determination. This lunation is ruled by Saturn, the planet of time and limitations, which is in Aries. Aries is a cardinal Fire sign that is symbolic of the friction that propels life forward.  All cardinal signs initiate a new season, and Aries season ushers in the Spring Equinox, when the light and warmth are becoming stronger in the northern hemisphere. During this Full Moon, you can look back to the New Moon in Capricorn, which occurred earlier this year on January 18th. If you have any planets or points at 28° of cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn) you might feel this lunation a bit more.

June 30
Jupiter enters the sign of Leo on June 30th. Jupiter takes about a full year to move through the zodiac, and for the last 12 months has been making its way through the sign of Cancer. The month of June initiates the wrapping up of that story, first with Mercury’s ingress into Cancer at the beginning of the month, with the conjunction between Jupiter and Venus in this sign, and with the Mercury retrograde, ending at the end of July. The New Moon in Capricorn also brings in themes important to the totality of the Cancer-Capricorn axis related to longevity, preservation, protection, and security. We will see how that all unfolds throughout this Mercury retrograde.
