The art and science of astrology developed as inseparable from astronomy around c. 1500 BCE. as a living language to help describe the emergence of omens. Its earliest origins can be traced back to Mesopotamia, in present-day Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Iran. Early observations of the cosmos would eventually synthesize into a formalized body of knowledge later named astrology, or astrologia (of Latin and Greek origin), meaning the study or discourse of the stars.
Over centuries, ancient astrologers formulated various methodologies and techniques to correlate celestial and terrestrial events through the development of mundane astrology. In effect, astrology posits that there is a fundamental effectual connection between the heavens and the earth, and that the firmament between the heavens, sky, sea, and soil is the same interstitial tissue.
From these wise teachings, natal astrology was born, including its main source of reference known as a nativity, or a birth chart. The birth chart is essentially a sacred map marking the moment that we emerge from the waters of the womb to sip our first breath. It is a companion to our lived experience and an ally in the ever-unfolding story of life.
